Electives
Overview of the Electives
During the Spring of your first year you will be asked to choose one of the following three modules to study in October of your second year. Please note, however, that a new University policy requires around 30 students on a module before it will be offered. Historically the Dispute Resolution module will always have run under this policy, however, the other two electives are less popular.
Dispute Resolution - Law and Practice provides an overview of all the major forms of dispute resolution used in construction before focussing in specifically in statutory adjudication as practised in the UK. [Note in this course we do not focus on arbitration].
Contemporary Procurement looks at public/private procurement, taking as an example the way that large scale projects are procured by the government for health projects. There will also be some emphasis on EU procurement rules.
Construction Law and the Environment considers the wide range of environmental impacts that the construction process causes and looks at relevant law.
